April Maples
Bookkeeping and accounting are more than just numbers to me—they are a calling. My journey in the accounting world began over 20 years ago when I started my first corporate job in an accounting department right out of high school. It was there that I discovered my passion for financial systems, and that passion has driven my career ever since.
Over the years, I’ve gained extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, earning a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and an MBA with an emphasis in Accounting. After 10 years working for large publicly traded companies, I transitioned out of the corporate world and took a position with the IRS as an Excise Tax Revenue Agent. My time at the IRS expanded my understanding of the complexities businesses face when navigating accounting, financial statements, and tax law. It also revealed the significant challenges business owners encounter in understanding their financials and making informed decisions based on that data.
Leaving the IRS, I knew my mission was clear: to help business owners gain a deeper understanding of their financial health. My goal has always been to help businesses build organized, transparent financial systems that allow them to make confident, data-driven decisions. I believe clear financial insights empower business owners to make smarter choices, leading to sustained growth and long-term success.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of business owners to create and refine their accounting systems. Whether simplifying financial statements, optimizing cash flow, or ensuring tax compliance, I’m passionate about empowering others to take control of their finances. Lisa Roethle
 I am a seasoned accounting professional with 19 years of expertise in public accounting, specializing in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and financial strategy. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business – Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in Accounting. My career has been built on both academic excellence and hands-on experience at some of the highest levels in the accounting field.
I began my career at one of the largest accounting firms in the United States, where I honed my skills and developed a deep knowledge of tax and financial services. Over the years, I worked my way up to the position of Senior Tax Associate, gaining invaluable experience working with a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from small businesses to large multinational corporations. During this time, I became known for my exceptional attention to detail, technical expertise, and ability to provide tailored solutions to complex financial challenges.
Eventually, I made the decision to venture out and co-found Oversight Bookkeepers, where I remain dedicated to offering expert bookkeeping to businesses of all sizes. As one of the key founders, I brought my years of experience and strategic insights to help build a firm known for its precision, client-focused approach, and deep understanding of the intricacies of tax compliance and financial management.
With a career spanning nearly two decades, I am driven by a deep desire to empower businesses with the financial clarity they need to succeed. My expertise, combined with my commitment to helping others navigate the complexities of accounting, positions me as a leading expert and valuable partner for businesses looking to grow and thrive.
Jason Maples
With over 19 years of experience in the construction industry, I’ve developed a unique blend of hands-on construction management skills and a deep expertise in Construction Bookkeeping and Accounting. My career started in the field, where I worked as an assistant superintendent and customer service representative for a regional homebuilder. I quickly moved up to the role of Superintendent, overseeing the construction of over 650 new homes across three subdivisions. This experience gave me a solid foundation in the operational side of construction.
As I advanced in my career, I transitioned into Project Management, where I successfully completed a wide range of projects, from residential homes to complex commercial New Builds and Commercial Tenant Improvements. During this time, I sharpened my skills in project estimating, scheduling, material purchasing, and managing construction teams. But it was when I became the owner of a construction company that my passion for construction-related bookkeeping and accounting truly took off.
For the past 9 years, I’ve owned and operated a successful construction business, where I’m responsible for managing the financial health of a multi-million-dollar organization. My hands-on experience with construction finance has given me a thorough understanding of job costing, budget management, and financial reporting. I’ve developed a keen eye for identifying cost-saving opportunities, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring that projects stay on budget and on schedule.
I’ve also become highly proficient in the complex accounting systems specific to the construction industry, including managing subcontractor payments, tracking material purchases, and navigating the intricacies of construction contracts. My knowledge of construction-specific financial tools—like progress billing, retainage, sales tax, and lien laws—has made me a trusted resource at Oversight Bookkeepers.
This expertise allows me to help contractors streamline their accounting processes, reduce financial risks, and ensure long-term profitability.
Now, I’m truly passionate about helping other contractors navigate the financial complexities of the construction industry.
